MapSolver — Terms of Use

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using any version of MapSolver (the “App”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the App. These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

2. About the App

MapSolver is an iOS game in which players identify towns and cities from unlabelled or partially labelled street maps. The App is provided by Edward John Welch (“Developer”).

3. Licence to Use

The Developer grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the App on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, solely for your personal, non-commercial entertainment purposes, in accordance with these Terms and Apple’s App Store Terms of Service.

You may not:

Copy, modify, or distribute the App or any part of it
Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the App
Use the App for any commercial purpose without our prior written consent
Remove or alter any proprietary notices or labels on the App

4. Tipping the Developer

The App offers optional in-app purchases that allow users to tip the developer. Pricing is displayed in the App and on the App Store product page.

The following terms apply to these purchases:

Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
This is a single, non-recurring charge. It does not renew and there is no subscription or ongoing billing of any kind.

All purchases and refund requests are handled by Apple. We have no ability to process refunds directly. Refund requests should be directed to Apple in accordance with their standard policy.

5. Intellectual Property

All content in the App — including but not limited to the game design, graphics, maps, place-name data, user interface, and underlying software — is the property of Edward John Welch or is used under licence from third parties (including MapLibre and OpenFreeMap). All rights are reserved.

Map tiles are provided by OpenFreeMap under the ODbL licence. MapLibre Native is used under the BSD-2-Clause licence.

6. Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services. Your use of the App is also subject to the applicable terms of those services:

Google Firebase / Crashlytics (crash reporting and analytics) — https://firebase.google.com/terms

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranty of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Developer disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components, or that defects will be corrected.

Geographic data (town names, coordinates, and boundaries) is provided for entertainment purposes only and may not be fully accurate or complete.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Developer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or in connection with your use of the App, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

9. Updates and Changes to the App

We may update the App from time to time to add features, fix bugs, or comply with legal requirements. We reserve the right to modify or discontinue the App (or any part of it) at any time without notice. We are not liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the App.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these Terms at any time. The updated Terms will be posted within the App and on the App Store page, with a revised effective date. By continuing to use the App after changes are made, you agree to the revised Terms.

11. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

12. Apple-Specific Terms

These Terms are between you and the Developer only, and not with Apple Inc. Apple is not responsible for the App or its content. In the event of any conflict between these Terms and Apple’s App Store Terms of Service, Apple’s terms shall prevail with respect to usage rules for the App.

You acknowledge and agree that:

Apple has no obligation whatsoever to provide any maintenance or support services for the App.
In the event of any third-party claim that the App infringes intellectual property rights, the Developer (not Apple) is solely responsible for investigation, defence, settlement, and discharge.
Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and, upon your acceptance, Apple will have the right to enforce these Terms against you.
